We see bird silhouettes all the time - on telephone wires, on trees. They're so common that we often don't really look. But I see so much beauty and symbolism in the fleeting moments of their behavior and in the purity of their lines. This series is my earliest body of work looking beneath the surface of everyday sights and finding the underlying meaning. I made a lot of the images in 2012-13, and added to the series in 2021 for a solo show at UCLA Hillel.
